I might be a little behind on my internet knowledge, so excuse me if I sound dumb.

The cloud has to be supported somewhere by hard drives and servers and communication lines. My 7346MB of available email storage on my gmail account has to be somewhere. This infrastructure is not cheap. We design data centers and I know these places are very expensive.

I agree with you that everything is migrating to run off a web browser. Everything in business, time sheets, Project Management programs, employee directories, HR programs, are all in Web-Based programs. Our building controls we design are all web-based apps.

So, back to the cloud? Who is going to pay for it? Advertising? What happens when google has put in all this infrastructure to get everyone on the cloud. It's going to go that way. Who isn't on gmail? How many people are left on AOL, where most people started. So, we get to the world of everything in the cloud. What happens when the cloud is taken away? Or put monetary controls on it? Can someone take over the cloud? All of a sudden, the things you spent time on creating in the cloud are gone.

Where is the middle ground?
